On this last day of 39, I wouldn't do a thing differently. I am excited about the creative turn my life has taken and can't wait to see what the next 40 + years bring. I know that at least two more volumes in the In The Reins horse book series will debut! 40 always felt like a long way off but as that BIG number started getting ever closer, I realized that if not for my husband my accomplishments as an author would have been much more difficult to obtain. My hubby has given me the best gifts an author could ask for so I thought I would recount them here in a blog post so other people with writers in their lives might gain some insight on what those best gifts are! So with out further delay, here are 5 from-the-heart gifts you can give the author in your life on their birthday, a holiday or merely a simple day!

The EQUUS Film Festival took notice. In The Reins is an official 2016 EQUUS Film Festival literary selection. The EQUUS Film Festival is the premier showcase for domestic and international equestrian content feature films, shorts, documentaries, music videos, commercials, training, educational materials, art & literature. The authors and literary works that have been selected will compete for the chance to win a WINNIE Award (EQUUS Film Festival’s equine equivalent of the Oscars). Category winners will be revealed this November in New York City.
Welcome to the BIG reveal! Can you hear my spurs jingling? I'm so excited to share this! I recently partnered up with Galloping Graphics, a creative company for the modern equestrian, on a super cool special project. Together, we worked on a series of custom graphics featuring the characters from 'In The Reins'. I will be using the graphics to make some super neat promotional swag for the book!
But, before I design those swag items, I wanted to hear from you ... the readers! Would you help me decide what type of swag to make and which graphics to use? I can't wait to find out which graphic is YOUR favorite! Here's the coolest part ...
Once you cast your vote, you’ll be automatically entered into a drawing for a chance to win a signed copy of 'In The Reins' and the very first swag item I make featuring the most liked graphic (based your feedback). The winning graphic and winner of the random drawing will be revealed in August 2016.
Click "Read More" to cast your vote and let me know which graphic is YOUR favorite! My spurs are jingling! I am so proud to announce that I was selected for the front cover of the July Issue of Uptown Magazine! Uptown is the leading luxury lifestyle magazine for the Arcadia, Biltmore and Central Corridor areas in Arizona.
Horse books make my spurs jingle! Before I am a writer, I am a reader. I owe my favorite authors a great deal. They make me feel. My favorite authors speak to a place that engages me and fills me up no matter where I am in life, happy, sad, mad, overwhelmed, they write to the place that heals me when I am cuddled up and lost in a good book! So in order to give back (or pay it forward), I’ve decided to host an equestrian author spotlight series on my blog! In this second spotlight edition, I talk about writing and horse life with Laurie Berglie, author of Where the Bluegrass Grows. I've had so much fun partnering with Laurie and am proud to call her a friend too! In her interview, Laurie offers some great (AND HONEST) insight for writers including that she can't write all day because she gets too distracted by her love for her animals! Plus, you'll learn what her dream horse would be like! Enjoy reading about this very special fellow equestrian and author. I just love Laurie's spirit!
