The journey I've been on with my book reminds me of the Rumi quote, "Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray." This November has been one to remember and a testament to the pull of my love for horses and creative writing. That love ... that pull has not led me astray. I am one lucky author cowgirl. I feel so blessed by those who have supported me and the readers who have enjoyed In The Reins. By doing all things with love, I've been gifted these seven slices of author heaven in November ...
Are you looking for the perfect gift for the horse lover in your life? Look no further! Give the gift of In the Reins - a novel for readers who love all things western, horses, handsome cowboys and a captivating love story. Your bookworm cowgirl will bounce in her boots when she finds the EQUUS Film Festival Award Winner for Best Western Fiction under the tree! Here's the most spur jingling news! I have a brand new cowgirlious store so you can give the gift of a signed copy of In The Reins to yourself or a horse loving friend. Read more for details ...
When I learned that In The Reins had broken into the Amazon top 100 (then the top 25 then the top 15), my heart grew a thousand times its size because I knew it meant that my writing was resonating with YOU! You are the audience I wanted to identify with and write for! You know who you are ... you're the bookworms, the horse lovers, the cowgirls, the connoisseurs of cute cowboys! I couldn’t have done it without YOU.
So this Thanksgiving, I've put together a video celebrating YOU - the readers! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so grateful for your readership. This video is for YOU! It features photos and comments that all the spur jingling readers have shared with me since In The Reins was born last December. In The Reins wins the EQUUS Film Festival Best Western Fiction Award! Can you believe it? I think my spurs are going to be jingling for days so I made a little tribute video to my spur jingling journey in NYC. I invite you to go behind the scenes of the EQUUS Film Festival with me. My cowboy helped me shoot footage as I attended the four day equestrian extravaganza! We filmed it all - beginning with the VIP Gala & culminating at the equine equivalent of the Oscars called the Winnie Awards. Happy Viewing!
Horse books make my spurs jingle! Before I am a writer, I am a reader. I owe my favorite authors a great deal. They make me feel. My favorite authors speak to a place that engages me and fills me up no matter where I am in life, happy, sad, mad, overwhelmed, they write to the place that heals me when I am cuddled up and lost in a good book! So in order to give back (or pay it forward), I’ve decided to host an equestrian author spotlight series on my blog!
In this sixth spotlight edition, I talk with fellow equestrian author Sharon Kay Roberts! We talk about the best topics on earth ... writing, books and horses! You'll love Sharon's favorite horsey memory! Enjoy the read. It's a fun ride! The EQUUS Film Festival is right around the corner! My spurs are so jingling! I'm thrilled to share that I will be attending the fourth annual EQUUS Film Festival in New York City! I can't wait to meet readers, fellow equestrian authors, filmmakers and all the horse enthusiasts that will be attending this awesome horsey event! Over the course of four days, I'll be appearing on a panel and in the Pop-Up Gallery where I'll be conducting book signings along with other literary peeps! Many books featured at the festival have gone on to become movies! Wouldn't that be dreamy? So here's where you can find me in NYC!
In the new series as a contributor for Horse Nation, I talked with Christy Snyder Kelly, head horse trainer at Hold Your Horses Inc., an organization that has been in the business of training AQHA, APHA, and NSBA horses for three generations. Through the interviews and video sessions in this series western horseback riding enthusiasts can glean insights from someone who has been coaching and training champions for years. Read more to learn about this five part series produced with fans of breed horse shows in mind!
Horse movies make my spurs jingle so in celebration of the EQUUS Film Festival (which I'll be attending in a few weeks) I put together a list of my favorite horse documentaries on my blog and included their movie trailers. These are horse movies that I'll watch on DVD or Netflix when I am seeking a little equine inspiration! Enjoy my guide to some great horse documentaries.
