The journey I've been on with my book reminds me of the Rumi quote, "Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray." This November has been one to remember and a testament to the pull of my love for horses and creative writing. That love ... that pull has not led me astray. I am one lucky author cowgirl. I feel so blessed by those who have supported me and the readers who have enjoyed In The Reins. By doing all things with love, I've been gifted these seven slices of author heaven in November ... 1. Arizona Authors ShowcaseI was invited as one of four local authors to share about my journey writing In The Reins - a love story about a city-girl-gone-country, a handsome cowboy & a horse that meet by fate! Thank you to the Desert Foothills Library for hosting the Arizona Authors Showcase in Cave Creek!. It was an honor to be selected as a featured local Arizona Author and to have an opportunity to share my journey writing In The Reins. One of my most favorite moments from the event (featured in the video below) was when the librarian introduced me and the book. She said, "Now, it's not just any cowgirl story ... I'm not a cowgirl but this story absolutely touched my heart." She thinks it should be a MOVIE! I saw this spur jingler on the Desert Foothills Library Facebook page. This cowgirlious commment was posted after the Arizona Authors Showcase event. Started your holiday shopping yet? Consider In The Reins! It makes a great gift for lovers of horses & bookworms alike. 2. Saddle Seeks Horse Author InterviewWhat a beautiful surprise! Upon landing in NYC for the EQUUS Film Festival I turned off airplane mode to see that my recent interview with fellow equestrian writer Saddle Seeks Horse was up online. Thank you for the opportunity, Susan! Pizza & horse lovers unite! 3. EQUUS Film Festival Award: Best Western FictionI think my spurs are going to be jingling for months from the excitement of this win! Go behind the scenes of the EQUUS Film Festival in New York City with me as I attend the four day equestrian extravaganza! It all begins with the VIP Gala and culminates at the equine equivalent of the Oscars called the Winnie Awards! Watch as I accept the WINNIE Award for Best Western Fiction for In The Reins. It was one of the most exciting moments of my author life! 4. Horses in the Morning Radio InterviewHorse Radio Network invited me to be on the air with the Horses In The Morning radio show. I so enjoyed talking about horses, my book In The Reins & it's EQUUS Film Festival literary award win with the Horses in the Morning crew! Missed it? No problem. You can still listen in! The recorded archive (11/22/2016) is available now! Listen to the interview here: http://www.horsesinthemorning.com/11-22-2016-by-horseware-pro-rodeo-hall-of-fame-in-the-reins-author-kade-pop-wagner-old-fashioned-cowboy/ 5. Author Shout Cover WarsWhen it rains it pours! In The Reins was selected to compete in Author Shout's Cover Wars. A little about Cover Wars. Each week Author Shout posts 15 book covers. Readers can show their support by voting on their favorite. At the end of the week voting ends. The cover with the most votes becomes their book of the week in which they will promote for one week on their site, in shout outs, & in their newsletter. http://authorshout.com/cover-wars/ Thanks to all my family, friends & readers who took a moment to vote for my book. In The Reins came in second against some fierce competition from a third book in a trilogy! I think that is quite an accomplishment! 6. I can't believe that my horse book gets to keep company with the wonderful authors (and their books) that inspired me to write my own horse book.
