As we gallop into the New Year, I am pausing in my pursuit of happiness to just be happy for a moment. I think it's so important for us all to celebrate last year's successes before settling in to tackle 2019's goals! Reflecting back, 2018 was another amazing year, and I wanted to share with readers some of the spur jingling highlights of my author journey, as well as, let you know what to expect in the year to come. So, in no particular order, because they were all awesome, here are my favorite moments of 2018, and where I plan to go in 2019.
One of the coolest moments of 2018 was being invited to attend TWO special media previews of Cavalia Odysseo in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was an equestrian show nothing short of spectacular! In the first video (below), I captured footage of the horses arriving and walking the red carpet, 'Liberty' horse training demonstrations, and a tour of the stable.
In this video, I share highlights from an exclusive, invite only 55-minute sneak peek of Cavalia Odysseo before its opening night in Scottsdale, AZ. The media preview featured stunning visuals and never-before-seen moments from the spectacular equestrian show. Happy viewing!
In 2016, I introduced a new series on my blog. In 2018, it is still going strong!
I celebrated thirty authors featured in my Equestrian Author Spotlight series. Thank you to all the authors who have given me the gift of their time. It makes my spurs jingle when authors unite. I think it is so important to support each other. We are stronger working together. Here’s to horse books!
If you are an equine author who writes about horses and would like to be spotlighted let me know. I’d be happy to include you! I love hosting these Q&A sessions on my blog with wonderful equine authors who love all things horses & writing just like me.
I loved meeting readers, fellow authors and all the book enthusiasts who attended this awesome bookish event! The Tucson Festival of Books is a community-wide celebration of literature. Offered free-of-charge, the Festival exists to improve literacy rates among children and adults. All proceeds for the Festival support local literacy programs. Go behind the scenes at the festival in this fun little video from my appearance in the Author Pavilion. Happy viewing!
Audiobook fans this one's for you! I found the perfect voice for the In the Reins series. I'm proud to have released both In the Reins and Cowboy Away on audiobook in 2018. You can expect the third book in the In the Reins series in 2019, too. Please enjoy a preview of the first FIVE chapters featuring the fabulous voice of Ms. Amanda Lamb. ❤️ Yeehaw!
Audiobooks are an easy way to fit more reading into your busy schedule. Whether you're commuting, exercising, doing housework, or even mucking out stalls, any time is a good time to listen to an audiobook. Did you know that you can listen to In the Reins AND Cowboy Away for FREE with a one month trial of Audible?

It totally made my spurs jingle to read a review from equestrian lifestyle blog Saddle Seeks Horse on In the Reins as recommended summer reading for horse lovers!
What do you get when you mix an aspiring cowgirl with a green Paint horse, mysterious horse trainer, and mischievous cowboy? The entertaining Western romance In the Reins.
I attended the EQUUS Film Festival Tour Stop in Sedona, Arizona. I loved the film screenings and meet-and-greets with my readers! I had copies of my EQUUS Film Festival literary award-winning book, In the Reins, and it's sequel Cowboy Away on hand, too. Here's a video recap from the event!
I had a blast galloping around Prescott, Arizona for the Horse & Agriculture one-year anniversary party. Thank you to Horse & Agriculture Magazine for supporting my books and having me at your party. My cowboy and I loved jamming to the music of Shari Rowe and touring Prescott, Arizona. Here's my video from the event and our tour of this famous Arizona cowboy town. Happy viewing!
I participated in my first NaNoWriMo in 2018 and ended the month with 30,671 words, which makes me very happy. Even though I didn't hit 50,000, I feel like I got a heck of an amazing start to the fourth book in the In the Reins series, especially since a first draft usually takes me about a year. I plan to finish JD's story in 2019, too.
In 2018, I launched my Readers' Group. I'll only ever email you to let you know about a new book release, or if I'm running a discount or promotion that I think you'll like, or if I'm giving away any cool horsey stuff like signed copies of my books or horsey swag and goodies. We all like to win prizes, right?
My mission is to rope creativity, lasso some fun cowgirlious content for you and provide a couple of updates, too! Plus, you can unsubscribe at any time.
Can you hear my spurs jingling? Cowboy Away won the 2018 EQUUS Film Festival Literary WINNIE Award for Best Equine Romance. Congratulations to all my fellow equine author friends on their 2018 WINNIE Awards. Get your copy on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/2zB2njz
Roper and Ryder’s first road trip came with some unexpected surprises ... um ... like SNOW in Arizona! This silly little video from our last days of 2018 should give you a giggle.
Perhaps the most exciting news of all is that I've just gotten my manuscript back from my editor. Readers can expect to see the next book in the In the Reins series in early 2019. I can't wait! Want to be the first to know when the third book will be released? Don't forget to join my NEW Readers' Group for spur jingling updates!
Here's what comes next:
I'm ready for the New Year!
There has been a very real magic coursing through all the people who have come together around my horse books. I am overflowing with gratitude for all the passionate people (especially the readers) who have been on this journey with me.
I'm ready for 2019! And blasting out a new book. My spurs are jingling because I'm going to bring readers PART THREE of the In the Reins series this year. Yeehaw!
What a cowgirlious year 2018 was. I appreciate everyone who has already bought a copy of my books or helped spread the word on Cowboy Away, the In the Reins sequel. These tiny beautiful gestures help a dream get the kick start it needs. Thank you for giving mine its chance.
Please support a dreamer and purchase your copy (if you haven't already) from Amazon or Barnes & Noble, like my Carly Kade Creative FB page, or simply leave a little book review on the In the Reins series when you are through.
