It's COVER REVEAL time! I have my manuscript back from my editor and am hard at work on the final revisions. I can't wait get Cowboy Away into reader's hands this year. So, in celebration of this next step in the process, I'm revealing the cover to the second book in the In the Reins series. The book cover is so cowgirlious. I made sure there's a horse (of course) on the cover, too. Can you hear my spurs jingling? VIDEO: A Spur Jingling Cover RevealI am SO excited to share the cover of my next book with you in this fun little video clip! You'll see that the woman on the cover looks more mature than the woman on the cover of In the Reins. This is intentional and symbolic of the story line. A lot of growth and self-reflection occurs in the pages of Cowboy Away for both Devon and McKennon. Happy viewing! A little about the cover designA BIG thank you to Joshua Jadon for working with me on the book design. I think what we came up with perfectly depicts McKennon’s journey in the second book. You may wonder why the sequel cover's characters are silhouetted like they were on In the Reins cover. I do this on purpose because I don't like give away what the character's might look like to me so they can continue to live in your imagination the way you think they look. As I talk to readers, everyone has a different vision of the what the Green Briar gang looks like and I LOVE THAT! Why is this cover darker than In the Reins? You might have noticed that the cover to the sequel is dark compared to In the Reins. This decision was intentional as well. In the sequel, you'll start reading exactly where the first book left off, meet some new characters and take a deep dive into cowboy McKennon Kelly's dark past (thus the darker cover design). Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? You'll have to read the book to find out! What do you think of the cover? I'd love to hear from you in the comments! From the back cover:Cowboy McKennon Kelly’s haunting past was a well-kept secret around the Green Briar stables, despite how hard newcomer cowgirl Devon tried to get to know him. As much as he wants to let go of his ghosts and learn to love this woman waiting for him, the grip his demon has on him is holding him hostage. If McKennon is going to move on with his life (and with Devon), he has a score to settle with death. But does he really want to move on? Can he? Does he deserve any happiness after what he did? Lost in a world of self-blame, McKennon struggles to cope with the relationships of his past, but accepts he must face some of them in the present in order to create a future. Cowboy Away, the highly anticipated sequel to In the Reins, an EQUUS Film Festival Literary Award winner for Best Western Fiction and two-time Feathered Quill Book Award recipient, journeys through McKennon’s dark and tortuous past. A cowboy on a quest for revenge, McKennon hits the road with nothing but his memories, a pistol and hope to put his demon to rest. What's next? The sequel to In the Reins will be published in 2017!
