About Author Cheryl L. Eriksen

Cheryl is an author and blogger who has been involved in multiple areas of the horse industry for over twenty-five years. A student of equine behavior and communication, she has experience as a horse midwife, equine assisted therapy facilitator, veterinary assistant, and horse trainer.

Cheryl's other creative endeavors include the blog, Peace Horse Journey, which explores her concept of horse-guided self-discovery and how equine behavior can be influenced by what the human brings to the relationship.

She also writes the Sputter Moo Breyers blog which dives into the stories and history of the model horses in her collection, and the real horses they represent.

Cheryl currently spends half the year working as a horse midwife, delivering foals and caring for mares and their newborns for various Thoroughbred farms in Central Kentucky. In the off season, she focuses on her writing, book events, and speaking engagements.

About Follow Me, Friend by Cheryl L. Eriksen

Follow Me Friend - A memoir about living with PTSD by Cheryl L. Eriksen
Follow Me, Friend is the true story of a young woman dealing with the daily struggles of living with undiagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder—and the healing she receives through the power of the horse-human relationship.

Told through her experiences of suffering the effects of childhood sexual abuse while having no conscious memory of the abuse, Cheryl walks the reader through a life in which she believes she is crazy, and she has the voices in her mind to prove it. Spiraling deeper into depression and plagued by a destructive inner voice that takes on a personality all its own, Cheryl sees only one way out, permanently.

That is, until a small, thin, scraggly horse comes into her life and changes everything.

About the Sequel I've Never Been to Me

Follow Me Friend Sequel by Cheryl L. Eriksen
Cheryl has spent her entire life searching for purpose, something to give her life meaning, that one elusive piece that will finally make her feel complete. Instead, she sinks ever deeper into a black-hole life defined by toxic relationships and an inability to see her own worth. The childhood trauma she thought she’d healed from still lurks in the shadows, pulling the strings, making all the decisions.

Farletta, Cheryl’s longtime horse companion, has the uncanny ability to see into Cheryl’s soul. The mare can look within, touch the broken parts, and bring them to the surface, where they can be healed. Farletta had already saved Cheryl’s life once—can she do it again?

From the author of Follow Me, Friend comes this touching, unforgettable story of one woman’s spiritual journey, a remarkable horse-human bond, and the unconditional self-acceptance that can only come when we courageously look within and learn to love ourselves.
