Equestrian Author Spotlight Series: A Recap of the First TEN Spur Jingling Author Interviews!4/11/2017
I'm celebrating the first ten authors featured in my Equestrian Author Spotlight series with a recap post! Thank you to all the authors who have given me the gift of their time. It makes my spurs jingle when authors unite. I’ve learned so much from other authors and appreciate how unique each of our writing journeys is. I think it is so important to support each other and share knowledge among us. We are stronger working together to expose this “niche” genre of ours. Here’s to horse books! Here's a recap of the first TEN interviews in case you missed one. Happy reading! I love supporting fellow authors through my Equestrian Author Spotlight series. 1. The Series Premiered with Author Amy ElizabethMy VERY first Equestrian Author Spotlight was with Amy Elizabeth. She is one of my very favorite horse book authors. You'll love her best horsey memory and some great insight for writers including how to be with negative reviews. Enjoy the read. It's a great ride! 2. Laurie Berglie (a.k.a the Maryland Equestrian)In this second spotlight edition, I talked about writing and horse life with Laurie Berglie, author of Where the Bluegrass Grows. I've had so much fun partnering with Laurie and am proud to call her a friend, too! In her interview, Laurie offers some great (AND HONEST) insight for writers including that she can't write all day because she gets too distracted by her love for her animals. Plus, you'll learn what her dream horse would be like. Enjoy reading about this very special fellow equestrian and author. I just love Laurie's spirit! 3. Brittney Joy, Author of the Red Rock Ranch SeriesIn this third spotlight edition, I talked about writing and horse life with Brittney Joy, author of the Red Rock Ranch horse book series. I fell in love with the characters from Brittney's books! In her interview, Brittney shares some seriously fun stuff including how her experience with a naughty cow (and her calf) inspired the opening chapter of Lucy's Chance. Plus, you'll learn about her new project called OverThrone involving a sassy heroine, a castle, magic, and horses. 4. Horse Lovin' Fantasy Author Sydney ScroghamIn this fourth spotlight edition, I talked with author Sydney Scrogham about writing (you'll love her response to being self-published vs. being traditionally published) and equestrian life! I met Sydney through social media. Her Twitter feed is filled with wonderful insights for authors. One day a tweet of hers was particularly interesting to me so I retweeted her words of wisdom. That single RT caused two authors to unite because moments later I received an invitation from Sydney to join her over on Facebook, too. Of course, I accepted the invitation! From there, I learned she was a fellow equestrian with a lovely horse named Snowdy. I was hooked (and learning a lot from her posts) so I read and reviewed her book, Chase. When I launched the Equestrian Author Spotlight on my blog, Sydney reached out. That's how history is made! So saddle up and get ready for a great ride with author Sydney Scrogham because she writes her horse books in the fantasy world Agalrae where the horse-like Alicorns live! 5. Equestrian Fiction Author Christine MeunierIn this fifth spotlight edition, I talked with fellow equestrian author Christine Meunier. It's a small world! I learned about the cool things Christine is up to through my work with Beth Jones of Galloping Graphics. Beth had been featured on Christine's Equus Education Blog in the "Profile On" Series. The series interviews people with horsey careers and provides insights for people who want to work with horses! Do you want a career involving horses? Christine's site is an excellent resource designed to aid others in developing an equine career. She showcases horse-related careers, horse courses offered around the world (sometimes at no cost) and profiles of those working at making a living related to horses. 6. Pony Book Author Sharon Kay RobertsIn this sixth spotlight edition, I talked with fellow equestrian author Sharon Kay Roberts! Sharon has loved and enjoyed the companionship of ponies and horses all her life. When she couldn't actually be with horses she devoured books about horses. As a mother she raised her children with ponies in the sandbox and family trail rides. She was a 4-H leader and when her children left the nest she became the Arkansas Director for Personal Ponies LTD. It was inevitable that one day her favorite animal would find its way to the pages of a book, a book about a pony named Honey inspired by the ponies of PPL. 7. Meet Equine Author Ellen FeldIn this seventh spotlight edition, I talked with fellow equestrian author Ellen Feld. I am honored to feature Ellen as a part of this series because she has written TEN horse books AND Breyer made a model of one of her horse book characters ... OMG! I think fellow authors will appreciate her response to how she structures her writing schedule. Hint: It's very unstructured. A lot of you may be saying, "Phew! I thought I was the only one." I think I can hear the sighs of relief out there. 8. Laura Wolfe, Author of Equestrian ThrillersIn this eighth spotlight edition, I talked with fellow equestrian fiction author Laura Wolfe. I just know riders and writers alike will love the message behind her favorite motivational quote. Are you thinking about publishing your own piece of equestrian fiction? You'll glean insight from Laura as she shares the advice she'd give herself if she could go back in time before publishing her first book. I love that she jots her ideas on napkins! I do that too ... smile. Happy reading! 9. Meet Equine Author Tobi Lopez TaylorIn this ninth spotlight edition, I talked with Tobi Lopez Taylor. She's a fellow equestrian author and American Horse Publications member. In the interview, you'll learn about Tobi's favorite horse breed (Arabians), why she thinks good editing is worth the cost, and her views on traditional publishing vs. self-publishing. (P.S. she's done both.) 10. Linda Ballou & The Cowgirl Jumped Over the MoonIn this tenth Equestrian Author Spotlight, I talked with Linda Ballou. In the interview, you'll find out that Linda gets to take horse treks around the globe and write about her experiences, hear why she loves being a writer, and if you are an aspiring author (or even an established one) Linda offers some solid tips on how to enjoy the ride. P.S, Your heart will melt over the stories behind the horses that inspired The Cowgirl Jumped Over the Moon. Stay tuned! Even more equine author features ...A big thank you to the first ten authors who participated in my Equestrian Author Spotlight series. I can't wait to bring readers the next ten equine author interviews. I have some amazing authors lined up for you. I'm kicking off the next installment with Jan Ruth, the author of the incredible Midnight Sky series. Gallop back over to the blog for a look at her Equestrian Author Spotlight later this month. Disclaimer! Even though Midnight Sky is a complete novel and stands on its own, you will immediately want to read the second book in this horse book series for adults. P.S. I am chomping at the bit for the third book in the Midnight Sky series. Write Horse Books, too? I'll Spotlight You!I am overflowing with gratitude for all the passionate people who have come on this journey with me from readers to those who have left my book a review to fellow equestrian authors who have been so supportive to other entrepreneurs I’ve met along the way. When dreamers band together and support each other anything is possible. You can’t do it on your own. So, in order to give back (or pay it forward), I’m hosting this Equestrian Author Spotlight series on my blog! I LOVE HORSE BOOKS. The book is available now in Paperback and eBook on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Kobo. 4/17/2017 01:59:31 pm
