About the Literary Corral

As part of the Literary Corral, participating authors will have opportunities to brainstorm with each other as well as filmmakers, meet-and-greet with readers, sell their books, and conduct book signings in the Pop-Up Gallery at the 2019 EQUUS Film Festival. In addition, select authors are invited to join in on Literary Discussion Panels during the event.
There will be three Author Hour panels each day (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) at 11 am in the Lower Level of the Pop-Up Gallery in the International Museum of the Horse. Panel topics have been determined and emails have been sent out to participating authors. Click the button below, to review the panel topics, times, and locations!

Authors are invited to attend the VIP event on Thursday evening from 6 pm to 10 pm. It is a great opportunity to meet and mingle with festival attendees. I would recommend planning to come!

Author Table Set Up Information

Artists and authors will meet attendees at the Pop-Up Gallery in the International Museum Of The Horse.
  • The space in the museum will be open to the public, so please do invite friends to visit you during the festival. I'm sure horsey friends would also love to see the films and visit the Southern Lights exhibit at the Kentucky Horse Park. Tickets to the EQUUS Film & Arts Fest can be purchased here:  https://filmfreeway.com/EQUUSFilmFestival/tickets
  • There will not be any table set up on Thursday. Table set up will begin on Friday morning between 9 am and 10 am.
  • Per Lisa, venue space is very limited and authors will be sharing tables (even if you bring your own table). Authors are asked to please bring a $25 check with them to cover the cost of a table and tablecloth rental from the park vendor. If you provide your own tablecloth, you will not be charged for a tablecloth. I'm not clear what the tablecloth rental fee is, so we will work that out at the fest.
  • Nothing is allowed to be mounted on the walls of the museum. If you plan on bringing a banner, you will need a banner stand if space allows. There may also be space to set up author banners on the lower level of the Pop-Up Gallery where the panels will be hosted.
  • Feel free to bring giveaway items to place on your tables, including ballot boxes, candy dishes, stickers, bookmarks, etc, but please note, due to limited space, large items like easels, framed art and banners may not fit.
  • All sales/tax of books are handled by the book's author.

What to Wear to the Festival

The whole event is pretty cowgirl casual. Jeans and boots mostly. Some people do get a little more snazzy for the VIP evening and the WINNIE Awards ceremony. For example, I was wearing a nice collared shirt, suit jacket, dark jeans, and my red cowgirl boots to the awards ceremony. A dress would do, too. It’s certainly not black tie. Really it’s all about what makes you feel good and comfortable. Below is a little video of what I wore to my first WINNIE Awards.

How Many Books to Bring to the Event

It is always difficult to know how many books to bring to an event. I tend to bring at least 25 copies of each book to events. I may bring more to the EQUUS Film Festival this year because we will be in the middle of horse country! I can't guarantee that you'll sell all the books that you decide to bring, but I think it's always better to have more than not enough!

Want to see what it's like to attend EFF?

I made a little tribute video from my first spur jingling journey at the event. I invite you to go behind the scenes of the EQUUS Film Festival with me. My cowboy helped me shoot footage as I attended the four day equestrian extravaganza! We filmed it all - beginning with the VIP Gala and culminating at the equine equivalent of the Oscars called the WINNIE Awards. Happy Viewing!
