In the Reins Series Update: Book Four is Finished!

Can you hear my spurs jingling? Book four in the In the Reins series is finished. Now that the manuscript to the fourth book is complete, here's what comes next ...

I've sent the manuscript to my editor.

The first step with any new book is to edit, edit, and then edit some more. I expect to have the first round of edits back from my editor by the end of the month. I'm working hard to make sure I put the very best version of the next book in the series into your hands. 

I know it can be hard waiting on a book to come out, but the cowgirlicious part of the journey is that I have a lot of fun things planned while you're waiting. Read on for details!

I'll be revealing the new book's title soon.

Stay tuned for the title reveal. In the follow-up to Show Pen Promise, you’ll start exactly where the last book left off and continue your journey with all the members of the Green Briar gang. I can't wait to share the new book's title with you soon!

I'll be introducing you to new characters.

As I prepare to publish the fourth book, I'll be bringing you short video introductions to the newest additions to my cast of characters - both human and animal. JD McCall plays a larger role in the new book, so I've shared his original intro video below.

I'm designing the next book cover.

The fourth book cover will continue the theme of the In the Reins series. I’ve been careful through the whole marketing process not to intrude on what the characters might look like in YOUR imagination. This is the reason why the front covers of In the Reins, Cowboy Away and Show Pen Promise are silhouetted. 

I've looked through a lot of images to find the one that spoke to me for the image on the front of the next book. I'm working with a designer right now and I think what we are coming up with perfectly depicts where the Green Briar gang is heading in part four of the series.

I'm working on a new book trailer.

I love putting together these little mini-movies for my readers. The fourth book trailer is going to be a spur jingler. My creative juices are flowing and I can't wait to share the newest one with you. In the meantime, I invite you to reacquaint yourself with the book trailers from the first three books. Like music? Listen to the fourth book's soundtrack!

I love to write while listening to music … all kinds of music! What I listen to depends on my mood. Some days it’s classical, sometimes it’s a movie soundtrack, other days it’s jazz or classic rock, and a lot of the time it was country when I was writing part four of In the Reins.

​I like to make playlists of songs that inspire each book in the series on my YouTube channel. I consider them the unofficial soundtracks for each book. I revisit them often to see what music was inspiring me while I wrote each of my books.

​Love is a Rodeo by Kane Brown was a particular favorite of mine while I was writing the newest book.
