Once we purchased our horse property, I started quietly looking for a horse for my husband. I wanted to find a horse that was similar in age to Sissy and one that would be safe enough for him to ride on the trails. We are so blessed that we can take the horses across the street and trail ride in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. I probably showed my husband hundreds of pictures, but he didn't like any of the horses until the day I popped Tanner in his face. He really liked her color, so I immediately called to make an appointment to see her. I told Adam not to fall in love with her because she was the first horse that we looked at for him, but I have to admit I had a feeling about her. I always have feelings about the animals that come into my life. Of course, Adam did fall in love with her that day when he rode her for the first time. Tanner really took good care of him. They made a great pair, so we left a deposit on her and I scheduled a pre-purchase examination for her with my vet for a week later. She passed with flying colors and we were excited to bring her home to meet Sissy. This little video documents our first adventures with our new horse. Happy viewing! Tanner is fitting in really well with her new family. She and Sissy shared a few squeals initially, but they have quickly become friends. I've been learning more about Tanner everyday and have been giving her a little tune-up under saddle. I can't wait to hit the trails with my husband. I'll be sharing more of our adventures as we explore Arizona on horseback. I feel so fortunate to live in Arizona where I can ride on my own horse property against a backdrop of mountains and experience the most breathtaking sunsets I’ve ever seen. I am one lucky cowgirl. Welcome home, Tanner!! You might also like ...Since I bought Sissy 13 years ago, we have been on quite a journey together from Michigan, to Texas, and to Arizona which is now our forever home. I am so grateful to be able to look out my window and see my girls in my backyard. The inspiration for my horse books comes from time spent at the barn and now that barn is at home. In case you missed it, here's Sissy's homecoming video. About Author Carly KadeCarly Kade is an award-winning equestrian author and the host of the Equestrian Author Spotlight podcast.
