I love to write my cowboy romance love stories while listening to music … all kinds of music! What I listen to depends on my mood. Some days it’s classical, sometimes it’s a movie soundtrack, other days it’s jazz or classic rock, and a lot of the time it was country when I was writing In The Reins.
AND I love to watch cowboy love movies too! I sometimes fantasize that my cowboy romance novel, In The Reins, might become a cowboy romance movie one day. Sigh ... I am sure many authors probably have that same dream about their books hitting the big screen but still ... wouldn't it be dreamy to see Cowboy McKennon Kelly steaming up the place?
All this romance writing, movie watching and silver screen day dreaming got me thinking about what a soundtrack for In The Reins might sound like if it ever was made into a cowboy love movie so I went ahead and made my own soundtrack! Are you a fan of romance movies about cowboys? If the answer is yes then get ready to saddle up and tune in to the soundtrack songs to my cowboy love story! Let's giddy up 'cause here we go!
From ‘Cowboys and Angels’ by Dustin Lynch to ‘Cowboy Take Me Away" by the Dixie Chicks, I repeated these songs over and over while working on In the Reins. Here are the 5 songs that I think would definitely make solid choices for a soundtrack to my fantasy cowboy romance flick. Happy listening!
1. 'Cowboys and Angels' by Dustin Lynch
We ride side by side
A cloud of dust, a ray of lightMy touch is her temptation
Her kiss is my salvation
She's sweet, I'm wild, we're dangerous
Cowboys and angels
2. 'Cowboy Take Me Away' by The Dixie Chicks
I said, cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can into the wild blue
Set me free, oh, I pray
Closer to heaven above and closer to you
Closer to you
3. 'I Need You' by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill
I wanna drink that shot of whiskey
I wanna smoke that cigarette
I wanna smell that sweet addiction on my breath
I wanna ride across West Virginia in the backseat of a Cadillac
You know some cowboys like me go out like that
So I need you
4. 'Like a Wreaking Ball' by Eric Church
That whole house is gonna be shakin'
I hope those bricks and boards can take it
But I won't be surprised
If the whole damn place just falls
Wanna rock you baby like a wrecking ball
5. 'I Run to You' by Lady Antebellum
This world keeps spinning faster
Into a new disaster so I run to you
I run to you baby
And when it all starts coming undone
Baby you're the only one I run to
I run to you
Which tune do you think best represents a cowboy love story? 'Cowboys And Angels' by Dustin Lynch? 'I Run To You' by Lady Antebellum? Let me know in the comments!
