'Tis the Season to Snuggle up with Cowboy Movies

Here's to Pajama Day!  Around the holidays, I look forward to putting on a great movie and snuggling up with a steaming mug of hot chocolate (marshmallows are a must) in my favorite pjs.  So as my Pajama Day approaches, I thought I'd share the top 10 cowboy movies that make my spurs jingle!

1.  The Longest Ride

Scott Eastwood is cowboy perfection in this romantic drama based on Nicholas Sparks' bestselling book.  The story centers on a young couple who make a fateful connection that changes their lives forever.  Eastwood is pure cowboy eye candy!

2.  The Man From Snowy River 

This is a classic for me.  On an Australian cattle ranch, a young man fights for his honor, falls for a powerful ranch owner's feisty daughter and is accused of losing a prized horse.  I remember seeing The Man From Snowy River at the movies.  My family loved it so much that my mom asked for the movie poster from the display at our local theater and had it framed.  The poster hangs in my home today.  This one is a must see for any horse lover!

3.  The Return to Snowy River

Yes!  There's a sequel!  The man from Snowy River is back and still fond of that feisty ranch owner's daughter, but upon his return he finds a lot of things have changed.

4.  Hildalgo

This movie is like Indiana Jones reinvented for horse lovers!  Hildalgo is the story of cowboy Frank T. Hopkins and his mustang as they become the first American and non-Arabian horse to compete in the toughest endurance race the world has ever known,

5.  Legends Of The Fall

An epic movie starring Brad Pitt.  He is on horseback a lot!  Legends Of The Fall is a sweeping story of a man and his three sons, growing up in the last frontier of Montana and the beautiful woman who impacts all their lives.

6.  Murphy's Romance

They don't make romance movies quite like this anymore.  Sally Field plays a divorced horse trainer who finds love again in a small town.

7.  The Horse Whisperer

Watch a very young Scarlett Johansson reconnect with her beloved horse after a tragic accident damages them both.  Oh yeah - Robert Redford plays a cool cowboy, horse whisperer too!

8.  Urban Cowboy

John Travolta plays the Urban Cowboy, ridin' mechanical bulls and breakin' cowgirl hearts in one of his most famous roles with a solid soundtrack to boot!

9.  Pure Country

George Strait made his film debut in this movie.  Pure Country gives an entertaining look into the heart and soul of country music.

10.  8 Seconds

To round out the list, I had to include a movie that features real bull riding, not the mechanical kind!  8 Seconds chronicles the life of Lane Frost, PRCA Bull Riding World Champion and highlights his friendships with Tuff Hedeman (3x World Champion) and Cody Lambert.
