7/15/2019

EQUUS Film Festival Literary Corral 2019
Spur jingling news! I've teamed up with the EQUUS Film Festival to help expand equine author opportunities and collaboration during the festival's seventh annual event. In this post, I share everything you need to know about entering your book and joining us in the 2019 Literary Corral!

About the EQUUS Film Festival

About the 2019 EQUUS Film Festival
The seventh annual EQUUS Film Festival will take place December 6 – 8, 2019. EQUUS Film Festival is the first event of its kind to offer a home to the storytellers, from around the world, of the horse through feature films, documentaries, video's, commercials, and short films as well as cultural elements of fine equestrian art and literature.
The EQUUS Film Festival strives to serve the interests and needs of equine filmmakers, artists, and authors by connecting creatives with audiences, exhibiting and promoting new films, filmmaking talent, books and equine art. Their mission is to nurture a creative community by facilitating relationships that last well beyond each year's festival.
Founded in 2013 by Lisa Diersen, President/Director, an avid equestrian who has spent her life in the company of horses. Lisa's mission is to show the world how horses can bring everyone together regardless of race, age, gender, abilities or disabilities. She presently raises, trains, and loves Lusitano horses in Maple Park, Illinois, with her faithful champion, the spunky Jack Russell, Amore.

Diana De Rosa, an international equine photographer and journalist, joined EQUUS in 2015 as co-organizer of the NYC event. The EQUUS Film Festival highlights and rewards the diverse and creative efforts of those who pay artistic homage to the horse.

Literary Corral Author Opportunities

Equine Author Panelists at the EQUUS Film Festival
The Literary Corral hosts books of many genres with the horse as the common focal point including children's books, fiction, romance, travel and guide, illustration, tribute and photography, historical explorations, activist, training memoirs, and more.
This year the EQUUS Film Festival will broaden its Literary Corral and focus on expanding the reach of the literary entries with a bright spotlight on equine authors as part of the event. Attending authors can display their books during the event at no extra charge! Lisa Diersen has graciously waved the author table fee for the 2019 EQUUS Film Festival.

As part of the Literary Corral participating authors will have opportunities to brainstorm with each other as well as filmmakers, meet-and-greet with readers, sell their books, and conduct book signings at the 2019 EQUUS Film Festival. In addition, select authors will be invited to join in on Literary Discussion Panels during the event.
"All of the authors who participate in the EQUUS Film Festival are linked through creativity, passion for writing, and love of horses," said Lisa Diersen, Founder of the EQUUS Film Festival. "Carly Kade is a natural fit to head up this year's EQUUS Film Festival Literary Corral because her passion is helping equine authors unite through her Equestrian Author Spotlight series."

Behind the Scenes of the EQUUS Film Festival

Want to see what it's like to attend the EQUUS Film Festival? I made a little tribute video from my first spur jingling journey at the event. I invite you to go behind the scenes of the EQUUS Film Festival with me. My cowboy helped me shoot footage as I attended the four day equestrian extravaganza! We filmed it all - beginning with the VIP Gala and culminating at the equine equivalent of the Oscars called the Winnie Awards. Happy Viewing!

Hi Carly,
I just wanted to make sure that I could enter my historical romance that has horse-racing, thoroughbreds, and mustangs in it. "Sadie's Mustangs. Though, all of The Ladies of Entrepreneurship Series has to do with thoroughbred and racing. Sadie's Mustang is the only one with horses on it.
